As a caregiver to Leanne for over 25 years, I've seen the worst that cancer treatments can do. I've supported and encouraged our healthy eating habits and ended up getting my Nutritional Consultant Certification. I saw my mom wither away and finally succumb to cancer when I was in my late 20's. My dad passed away from heart failure when I was 18. I do not want to follow in their footsteps. When I was younger, I was in a modern dance troop, I studied martial arts and was an avid windsurfer. As I grew older, although my diet was good, I found myself slowing down and began slipping into a sedentary lifestyle and gaining weight. Then, 4 yrs ago, we were introduced to hula hooping by friends and I became addicted. I feel better, I eat better and I lost weight.

I'm a 4x survivor of Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Between set backs, I've managed to get my MA in psychology with a concentration in health psychology. In college, I wrote most of my research papers on health related topics and, over time, found myself researching all things cancer. I designed research projects, ran subjects and crunched numbers. I still love to pick apart the research and get to the nitty gritty. I have also been studying nutrition and have recently received my Nutritional Consulting Certification. I love hula hooping and the joy it brings to me, my family and, especially, the cancer community.
